Generation V | Titan V Volta (2017)
Benchmarking the Nvidia Geforce Titan V Volta 12GB against popular games from 2014 to 2023 using a period-appropriate gaming PC.
Support Iceberg Tech: www.patreon.com/icebergtech
I would consider Volta to be Nvidia’s “forgotten generation”. Launched between the immensely successful Pascal and revolutionary (if controversial) Turing architectures, the only Volta that made it to the attention of consumers was the $3000 Titan V.
The Titan V wasn’t intended as a gaming product, though considering Nvidia’s own mixed messaging on the Titans of the past it’s no surprise that there would have been some confusion, and with the benefit of hindsight and a hefty drop in asking price on the used market, it’s possible that the V will find a new audience among AI & ML enthusiasts. Meanwhile, those of us who looked admiringly at these lottery-win graphics cards from afar back in 2017, we wonder what might have been, if only we’d been able to afford a Titan V for our gaming rigs - and those of us with less nostalgia can laugh at how far the mighty Titan has fallen in the last 7 years.

6:30 soixante-neuf ? 😅 🇫🇷 👍 The point that you're making is funny " The rtx is not supported without the software rt settings and mostly is irrevelant for gamers to the price point which is not longer here " Which nvidia has again had a good laugh making this card while it has been they're only single fail on they're side to hint the whole nutshell since they always have been toying with they're customers loudly Amd did it multiple times more discretely no one expect me has made the link years before your started making videos / the r9 fury x video made me smile 'Lil info get an AIO on the titan v you will get maxed out for several days gaming non stop/turned off, idle never above 40 degres (most of the hours are at 36) Start making some research (not too much unless you want to understand what happens in the background for decades) , get yourself a second one Play with API's and alternatives rendering methods such as split and tiled rendering and pools some of that sweet vram The CEO editions were meant to be given to a 20 of AI researcher's that has a knife under throat even at today's date Oh and any build is the worse scenario for a pc while still performing okay with expensive components that are themselves garbage made on purpose at a wanted conception choice level No ones making links to anything while being so obvious you buy , you beighboor buy , it prices you fight for some 2,4gb of gddr that stands for (garbage) to make change to an abberations of a products and never questions the fact that you buying crap and fighting for more in quantity because you never met anything else in the first place. Nvidia , Amd's plan ^^ and it works pretty well to make sheeps If it's not discountinued in less than 6 month i won't buy.. because it won't be a fail A failure for thoses 2 companues is what the consumer wants because they're supposed to make something matching with the demand Since when they did ? Never they make the demand themselves by using marketing and plays with us even making us requesting more of their crap without noticing.

Been enjoying low/mid end gaming with an RX580 + a I5-4670k and 12GB of DDR3 RAM on 1080p. Legit run most games on at the very least medium settings. Tested Cyberpunk, Warzone, and Helldivers. Only had issues with Helldivers as there could be too many enemies on screen so it was low settings there, but it ran fine on even high settings when it was only the landing phase with a few shootouts, averaging around 40-50fps. For a card that I paid only $80 for as it was *already* used, and a CPU that's gotten pretty old, I cannot be more satisfied for a completely budget build. The whole PC was just around a $180 investment, probably less even. If you can't afford something ridiculously priced like most Nvidia cards, or the more modern AMD cards, I recommend the older RX series, with the 590 probably being a weaker, but much cheaper version of the RTX2060 as it can run most games that the 2060 could run from my experience, ray tracing not included of course.

No, I learned enough French to pass my GCSE in 1999 but not enough to actually read, speak, understand or communicate in French. I was surprised when I was in a French-speaking part of Switzerland last year and someone said "nonante" instead of "quatre-vingt dix", which made me think if I tried to speak any of the French I learned in school nowadays, I might sound like some kind of time traveller from ancient history. I say "soixante-neuf" instead of 69 because my colleagues on the internet say "sixty nine - nice", and I want to be different. It's also a sly reference to Talladega Nights.

Actually the ps5 can come with better performances with a weaker gpu because games come optimised for the console 🤷🏻‍♂️ But a 4070 will leave the ps5 pro far behind because the PlayStation produces so much heat it won’t benefit of such a powerful gpu

Excuse me but it's supposed to be 6 months ago why didn't you get a 7900xtx if you wanted rt? Also your complaints are relative to what ? A $1500 4090? I mean there are Nvidia cards that would be struggling in those settings too e.g the 3090. Certainly Nvidia gpus are better in rt than similarly priced amd ones of the same gen cuz its a Nvidia thing mostly ,I personally dont care that much about rt its a gimmick and there are not many interesting titles supporting it, having that said if you want rt and amd on the same time a 7900xt performs the same more or less like a rtx 4080 and certainly outperforms a 6900xt by around double the frame rate in some games. You should have clarified the premise you bought a 6900 why ? You found it used at a good price ? Good for you but when you get 30 fps at ultra settings with rt enabled on recent titles you should compare that with gpus currently sold at the price you bought your used 6900xt

Compute power on the Radeon VII is insane! I remember mining with a 2080 and my Radeon 7. The 2080 could manage about a 62mH/s. The Radeon 7, after tweaking memory latencies hit 110mh/s, almost double the 2080. AMD cards had superior asynchronous compute performance, which nvidia hadn't fixed until the 30 series. For AI workloads, you will want a Radeon 7. As in, your computer talking to you.

They can be accelerated by dedicated hardware on the silicon but fundamentally they are all software. Not sure it is right to say "Software XESS or software raytracing" when what you mean is - "running on shader engines vs on hardware designed to accelerate". Just my two cents!

Not directly related to this video; but you can't compare two architectures (the 6900XT and 7900 GRE) like that, nor is the 7800XT better (nor in value (than the GRE , IMO) or performance - sometimes by a lot). You'll also find that an X3D CPU helps greatly, both with high and low framrerates / frametime (and stutters); especially on older DDR4 bandwidth/latency limited systems (there's a reason the 7800X3D performs a lot better in Starfield, for example (not just the crappy engine). Just some things to keep in mind when making evaluations.

I switched to the 7900XT when it went on sale for black friday last year. I upgraded from a 2070 Super. I switched due to AMD including much more VRAM and generally faster rasterized performance over it's nvidia counterpart, for much less. RT is nice, and I do get to enjoy it to a greater extent than my 2070 super, but it's still not quite there. I don't mind terribly, though. Considering RT still looks quite ugly in some games.

I see comments all the time saying that Titan cards and 90 class cards aren't for gaming, which is not entirely true. GeForce cards are primarily aimed at gaming as that's the gaming brand and only the Titan X Pascal onwards showed Titans not using the GeForce brand, otherwise the original Titan X was, and the 90 and 90Ti class cards like the 3090Ti or 4090 are just listed with the other cards of their generation, they don't have their own drivers like the Titan class.

You can tune your ram and get lower latency. You can do it even on a b660 760 board. If you do that it matches the r5 5600. Even xmp ddr4 3600 which you can do on newer intel locked cpu would beat ddr 5 4800. Testing this at ddr 5 4800 without tuning the ram is lazy with the ipc of the 12100 should just be slightly slower than the 5600. Again you can change ram speed on b660 b760 and zboads you cant change voltages. Recommended samsung b die ddr4 and get work on geting the lowest latency possible since it is easier and ddr5 is a pain with the voltage locked.

Pioneers of game console says that game consoles are designed to be very accessible for all households. Is 800+ for a game console still accessible? And a thing to consider for everything outside the US costs considerably more from tax, higher regional MSRP, and the big cuts taken from distributors.
